Where Do I Begin? (Poetry For Self-introduction)

I start where you're lost, where I once was clueless too. I start with words and stories you've seen and read but haven't remembered exactly where they are in your head. I begin as early as I know where to begin, when injustice gave rise to unsung heroes, art inspired by pain, and the nearing ideal of a seamless safe space in which concepts we can now name, define, and dissect exist not just to exist, but to be applied for the betterment of mankind (and all-kind).
I made "Wake Up Stay Woke" in hopes of encouraging equal parts social and intellectual awakening in the brains of like-minded folks who are looking for a source that carries no discrimination or judgement. I say this but you will know it's untrue, for my values and beliefs will never be exactly the same as yours. But I trust that with this interactive outlet, we can converse productively and, most importantly, find common ground to discuss and analyse issues of rising prominence in our societies.
"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." - Desmond Tutu; Being human, I have thoughts in my head that I want to voice. It's been a while now since I've felt this way, so it was about time I gave it a try. (Truth is, I am also struggling to find another quote I had come across about how selfish and wasteful it would be for one to not write down and share the thoughts one has. If you know which one it is, please let me know. Thank you.) As a member of society, I read medicine in university, which I am a little ashamed to admit because it uses up most of my time during the school year to the extent of rendering me nonchalant to words I see on the news but do not understand. In hindsight, medicine is important, but if I want to be a good doctor, I should be concerned with being informed sufficiently about the potential systemic challenges my future patients will face beyond hospital walls, so that I may truly make their lives easier and uphold their dignity in their moments of stress and vulnerability.
Content on this blog will never be entirely original, as my perspective and ideas are constantly evolving, thanks to constructive creators, commentators, and sources out there that allow me to relentlessly educate my constantly confused self. I will be doing my best to provide links to credit, as well as recommend to readers, the original posters along the way. If I flounder, however, I would always appreciate help from a good Samaritan. (Dana, I'm looking directly at you.)
Last but certainly not least, any work of Emma would not be complete without a poor attempt at humour. This blog will be my online confidante, my diary, and my portal to your worlds of stories. Where do I begin... To tell the story of how great a love can be?
